Operational Excellence capturing over 150 continuous improvement projects in the project pipeline

As a small team supporting many competing projects across the university, the Operational Excellence team prioritizes and manages incoming projects through a project pipeline

As of June 2022, Operational Excellence has captured 156 projects in our project pipeline, in addition to 57 yellow belt and 8 green belt projects delivered as part of the Lean Six Sigma training program. The majority of these projects have been completed, or still in progress, or are on hold, with nine projects requiring further resources from the Service Excellence Transformation (SET) team within Operational Excellence.

On June 6, these nine projects were presented to the project prioritization steering committee, in which three projects have been approved to begin in June:

  • Facilities: Sign Shop Optimization and Opportunity Assessment
  • Financial Operations (Payroll): Payroll Cheque Improvement Project
  • Facilities: Evaluation to Determine Optimum O&M Staffing and Funding Levels

Our team will continue to evaluate and prioritize projects requiring SET resources to continue to deliver results to UBC. More details will be shared with the community.
